(Right now the classes are on hold, were hoping to pick them up again soon) Join us as the students of this class learn to Read, Interpret, and Apply the Scriptures. students will learn how to do so in 2 parts. 1.Hermeneutics (The science of studying scripture), this includes Observation, Interpretation, and Application. we observe the text at hand. we look at the context (what comes before and after the text), we look into the time period, culture, and language in order to get an accurate interpretation of what the original writer intended the text to mean and what the original reader of the text understood it to mean. Once an accurate interpretation is gathered then an appropriate application can be used in the life of today’s believers. 2. Homiletics (The art of presenting scripture). this is done by allowing students of the class to present a 15 minute teaching to the class. This 15 Minute teaching will be recorded and then played back for the class, at which point all in the class are able to offer up constructive criticism as the teaching is watched; this would include talking to fast, moving hands or arms in a distractive way, getting off topic from the text, giving wrong information etc... we also encourage people to chime in with things they liked about the teaching. this gives the student teaching experience in front of an audience.
